Thanks Tomato, you are very welcome here :)

Please post the story about the man from Japan and his oil from garbage, sounds very interesting.

You can run any icebox, or fridge from solar energy, if you have solar panels on your house. If you want to run a small icebox for camping or picnics, you only need a small solar panel. A good brand for a small icebox that you can charge by solar, or by your car battery, is Engel or WAECO.

I'm pretty sure you can get these brands in the US.

For good egg laying chickens, that are quiet and friendly, my favorite type of chicken is a breed called the "Isa Brown". I have this breed of chicken myself and they are really lovely chickens. I get an egg from each chicken every two days.

I was always told that you should have even numbers of chickens, not odd numbers, because then they don't pick on the odd one out. 4 is a good number to start with.

You can buy fertilized eggs from a farmer for your chickens to hatch, but I would avoid getting a rooster (boy chicken), or you might find your neighbours don't like you anymore :) In the town where I live, we aren't allowed to keep roosters, because they are sooooooo noisy.

Hope this info helps,

and welcome,

spud
