Also keep in mind that in order to have PTSD, the patient would have had to have gone through some sort of psychological trauma. I don't think every BPD patient has been abused or experiences that sort of psychological trauma.

You could argue that a person with BPD is more susceptible to PTSD due to the way they perceive things but then we are getting into the whole "which came first, the chicken or the egg" argument.

I agree that the OP's situation may be PTSD rather than BPD because of the abuse but I do not agree that they are the same disease.

I also do not like the term Borderline Personality Disorder. It sounds "crazy" and I think for someone with BPD, this can come across as debilitating, embarrassing and insulting.
