Its interesting, I can still remember a time before these plastic shopping bags. Growing up in Asia we had string bags to take to the market or woven rattan bags. Now these plastic bags are everywhere. I can even remember getting groceries in paper bags, and these then went into the compost.

We are required in my business to provide bin bags, so we try to use any plastic bags, (particularly biodegradable ones) instead of buying plastic bin bags, at least this way they are getting 2 or more uses instead of just going into landfill.
