Re: Side Effects from Mirena??

Well, my experience post removal has been better than some women and worse than others. You may be one of the lucky ones who manage to come through relatively unscathed. Fingers crossed for you!

At the 6 month post removal mark I can see, looking back that I feel a good deal better. I don't feel sick all day long anymore and I think my memory and constant fatigue and is recovering slowly. I am also managing to maintain my weight - I've never been really heavy but used to bloat like mad during my time on mirena.

Where I'm at now, I can live with. I still have heightened symptoms around the time of my period and ovulation but those too are NOTHING like as bad as they were. Oil of Evening Primrose has helped me a lot with the raging temper I developed around the 2 month posr removal mark. As for the 'crash' - it happened to me at 3 months and again, less aggressively at the 5 month mark. Lots of women have posted this experience at month 8/9 too.I felt like a had a virus, was emotional, ached all over and developed lots of sinus discomfort. I also has post removal this horrible lump in the throat feeling which was awfu;l as it felt like I was choking. This happens very occasionally now. Stomach discomfort and heartburn has also been eased with the use of probiotics. I realise now that all these side effects are common among women battling hormone imbalance.

I've been able to return to work full time (I doubted this was possible 2 months ago) and I've been trying to be proactive by having a course of acupuncture to attempt to rebalance things. I feel this is helping, although it could be due to a placebo effect! My therapist also suggested that I may have an underactive thyroid (again, common with mirena users) since my temperature was charting low. I'm trialling a thyro supplement. If this sorts some of my symptome, I'll be thrilled.

Keep us posted....and if anything odd pops up during your recovery, realise that it is probably normal. Understanding that really helped me on this journey!
