Re: Side Effects from Mirena??

Thanks for the feedback. I had my IUD removed yesterday and am hoping to see some improvements. The nurse practitioner at my Dr.'s office did the procedure and when I asked her about side effects she acted like I was just overly paranoid. She said most everyone loves the IUD and she rarely gets any complaints. When I told her about the weight gain she said she has never heard of anyone gaining weight with the mirena. However she does think that we should investigate why I'm gaining weight especially since I weigh more now than I did when I delivered my baby with no significant lifestyle changes. She ordered some blood work to check my hormone levels so I'm interested to see how that comes back.

She said not to expect any side effects after removal, but then again she doesn't think any of my symptoms are related to the IUD. What have your experiences been post removal? Anything I should be aware of? Had a bad headache yesterday and flu like symptoms but my period also started so it could be related to that. I'm feeling pretty good today but would appreciate any feedback as to post removal side effects. Thanks for the support.
