Armour, Calcium, Iron, & Breakfast

Hi,

I've been reading that there is a need to wait for an hour (some say 2 hours) after taking Armour before eating anything with calcium, iron, and fiber because they can interfere (bind) with the thyroid hormones. However, I've also read that people with adrenal fatigue need to eat breakfast asap and shouldn't wait that long before eating.

I can see how having a "breakfast" of good fats and carbs soon after taking Armour would avoid the calcium and iron issue but protein is especially important for those with AF and there aren't any natural protein sources that are free of calcium and iron.

So how do you reconcile a long waiting period with breakfast asap?

I've read that one workaround is to use sublingual Armour shortly before a meal. Stop the Thyroid Madness recommends that one should "make sure to avoid swallowing calcium, iron and estrogen at the same time, since all will bind some of the thyroid hormones with they mix in your stomach."

So if the binding occurs in the stomach and not in the bloodstream, then wouldn't it make sense that swallowing an "Armour" tablet shortly before a regular, protein breakfast would work just as well? Surely even a non-sublingual tablet doesn't need to sit in the stomach (or the upper intestine) for 2 hours before being absorbed and whisked away from a slowly digesting breakfast.

If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd greatly appreciate it!

In health,

Paul
