Oedema is everyone's bugboo coming off a fast. it's extremely hard to avoid when the ketone to glucose change over is *immediate*. it promply changes the sodium balance for necessary rehydration. this re-feeding syndrome s called hypophosphatemia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refeeding_syndrome
such a pity you decided to stop the fast when you saw diminishing bladder cancer symptoms. in my books that would have been the absolute best incentive to continue. stopping merely because it wasn't dropping your weight fast enough (although important over time) is in your case, not the major priority.
i'm just crossing fingers that all these learning experiences make it easier each time to do whats best for your precious body rather than cave in to the less sensible desires of the psyche.
you are a prime candidate for achieving magnificent things on a fast.
