Greetings #34548!
Yes, this sounds very much like a kidney issue...and it sounds extremely serious to me! I'll explain why throughout my response, and make suggestions/recommendations at the end. In case you're not familiar with my postings, I'm always in "teaching mode" for the hundreds that may read my responses later...so please don't think I'm being condescending if I suggest things you already know (and most of all, don't think I'm talking "at" you, I'm always speaking to everyone :)
I have had this small pain in the middle of my back, on either side for some time now. However, it was never a debilitating issue. Pain is our body's way of telling us there is something wrong somewhere, so even though it may not be 'debilitating' for any of us, it should be a major 'red light' we should never ignore. Yes, mid back pain, tenderness or sensitivity, especially on 'either side' definitely points to "kidneys".
Well, I went to the masseuse recently because of all my muscle pains - they are so severe (from a car accident 1 1/2 years ago) and I thought it would help. Body work when done by someone qualified is always a very good thing to do! 'Sorry to hear you had an accident, but you shouldn't still be experiencing severe muscle pain after 1 1/2 years. Let me know if you'd like to address the issue of why your body isn't healing itself as it should, and I'll get you more information.
However, since going to her my back pain is so excruciatingly painful I want to die -really, I cannot bend even 1 inch downward and it is like a sharp carving knife going through my back into my body....I really have to scream. I cannot sit up in bed from a reclining position without agony and screaming in pain - and, on and on it goes - it has been this way for one week or more - I am now taking muscle relaxers which the neurologist had given me for the car accident - I never take drugs but I had these for an emergency and, that is what I am taking, with little result. Wow, it sounds like you're seriously hurting :( And the more intense the pain, the more intense is the need to address the cause. I understand why you'd take the muscle relaxers...but like you indicate, I wouldn't expect them to do much against kidney pain.
Question: Could this be my kidneys??? Absolutely! It is literally in the center of my back going across from side to side that whole strip of about 7 inches deep/high.... That's exactly where you'd expect to feel it if your kidneys are in trouble. I must go back to the doctor tomorrow because I cannot take the pain but now I am scared. 'Sorry I couldn't get you a response before you went to the doctor, but you're back now with some kind of information. Let me know what the doc said and what's happening and we'll take it from there. I was recently put on a diuretic with my BP medicine because my BP readings were so high - Hmmm, you just added a diuretic with your BP med - so that doesn't mesh with what you said about about " never take drugs"...but I'm glad you mentioned it because many BP meds chemically force the kidneys into unnatural actions. In fact, whenever we see "high BP" we should always think: arterial issues, heart/circulation and kidneys. when they injected me with 2 diuretic injections, I lost 6 pounds overnight and for the first time in ages was able to bend, stoop with no problem at all. But this was before the horrible pain I am now in. 'Sounds to me like your meds have caused or worsened a kidney compromise.
So, do you think the diuretic which I take 2/x day with the BP pill is responsible.? It's very possible that the BP med (even without the diuretic) has caused or worsened the problem. The diuretic would definitely make it worse.
Please, any input would be so appreciated - I have no confidence whatsoever in the medical profession in this country and would welcome your thoughts. It's good you have no confidence in the medical profession, it's the 1st leading cause of DEATH in the US. :( 'Sounds to me like maybe it's time (or past time?) to dig in and do some learning so you can have control of your health, body and life! Maybe I'm "missing something" here, but it sounds like you don't have any confidence in them, yet you're taking their pharmaceuticals...and those two things just don't go together. Whatever is happening, I assure you...you CAN learn to heal your own body (and have the freedom that brings!).
Thank you so very much and so sorry for the Odyssey above - but I wanted to give a clear picture for you.
Thank you. You're more than welcome! Don't apologize for 'the Odyssey'...there's no such thing as too much information when it comes to discerning what may be wrong and how to correct it. Based on what I know so far, here's what I suggest and why (followed by a short list of questions):
First, you should read through the information in these two links as soon as you can (I'll be pulling some links from these in the recommendations below), but you should read as much as you can, as soon as you can :) --
[FAQ] Healing Cleanse: Kidney/Bladder... working file thread
Kidney Chapter - SYL Re: [FAQ] Healing Cleanse: Kidney/Bladder... working file thread
--Castor Oil pack across the kidney area all night, every night. This should give you some measure of 'immediate relief', as well as continued support during the cleansing and healing.
--We should all do thorough organ cleansing at least once, and then do 'maintenance & tune-up work' yearly (most recommend a quick tune-up 4x yearly). But most people have never done that - so you likely haven't either. So the first and most important thing to do is a thorough Kidney/bladder Cleanse (two 5 day cleanses, a few days apart). And from what you're reporting, you likely need to do this A.S.A.P. Here are the complete instructions & details: http://curezone.com/ig/i.asp?i=41441
While always optimal, you do not have to do the juice-fasting portion of this cleanse to get results - but you're cheating yourself AND your body if you don't. 60% of our body's energy is used daily in the complete process of digestion and assimilation. You can use that energy processes food or making food OR you can juice-fast, which allows your body to use that energy to help cleanse and heal itself. But if you don't have a juicer, you can still do these cleanses and expect them to be effective.
--Because your issues are so severe, it's likely you should do the 3-day Kidney Stone/Bad Calcium cleanse on days 2,3 &4 of each of the 5 day cleanses. You should at least do it once! http://healingtools.tripod.com/kidstone.html This is NOT just for "kidney stones"; these herbs will travel through your entire body/bloodstream and cleanse away 'hardened crud' throughout your arteries (something everyone with high blood pressure needs to address). Because this cleanse dissolves/releases SO much debris, I always recommend doing it with a kidney cleanse, to be sure your kidneys have the support they need to process and eliminate the debris. In fact, I suggest you get an extra baggie of the Kidney tea and drink 1-3 cups of that daily for a week or two after you've finished the 'official' cleanses
--One common reason for "kidney issues" is lack of blood flow to & through the kidneys...commonly due to dehydration & thick/sluggish blood (which is why diuretics are SO evil - the kidneys are compromised, hence not removing fluid, so they give us diuretics...which band-aid the symtpoms and worsen the problem). Of course any blockage in the kidneys and/or the actual flesh of the kidneys ''hardening" can also be part of the problem (Dr. Schulze reported that when doing autopsies, he saw kidneys that looked like they were filled with coral formations!).
So, how do we get to the root of this problem and/or support the kidneys during the cleansing and restoring? By making sure we do ENOUGH! The three 'magic words' of natural healing are: enough, Enough, ENOUGH! Are the products pure and strong enough? Are we taking enough? And are we doing and providing ENOUGH supportive therapies to ensure our body can utilize the herbs & products we're taking?!
Even if: we're ingesting a 100% optimal & organic/clean diet with some type of quality Superfood; we've done thorough cleansings and are doing yearly maintenance: we're avoiding all known toxins & poisons (via water, otc's, drugs and toxic supplements)...we're still living on a planet that's SO toxic that our systems of elimination and neutralization are running on ultra-high-drive 24 hours a day (in an atmosphere that now contains 12-18% percent oxygen when less than 50 years ago there was 30+% oxygen). Hence, the 'supportive therapies' (our body NEEDS our help and support). This being the case, here's what I suggest for "enough":
--Hawthorn tincture - 2-4 droppersful daily, 3-4x a day. Hawthorn supports and helps to heal the heart. Hawthorn is also known to reduce blood pressure. We need to ensure that the heart is beating strongly enough so that the oxygenated blood is flowing adequately through the kidneys (and the rest of your body). Hawthorn +raw garlic is even MORE effective for both heart & bp issues! So 3-6 cloves of minced raw garlic would be optimal.

--One gallon of distilled or RO filtered water daily!
--Superfood! Our body must have the right kind of fuel and enough of it to run properly every day (something most of us have never really had). We certainly cannot expect our body to be able to expend MORE energy to cleanse & restore itself, if it doesn't even have enough to run properly. So 4-6 Tablespoons of Superfood daily is super important! SuperFood by Dr. Schulze In our Storefront, Superfood Original is for vegans and those juice-fasting. Superfood Special Blend is better for those still eating meat & dairy. Which reminds me, the uric acid in meat are very stressful to the kidneys - check out this Google search on "meat, kidneys, uric acid": http://tinyurl.com/3xw5b34
--How to ensure the herb-nutrient-oxygen laden blood circulates through the body and kidneys to create the healing you need (and support the heart, and lower blood pressure)? CAYENNE! Check your PM/inbox for "must read" files/information. We should all be taking Cayenne daily (it was always a daily part of Dr. Christopher's recommended diet). 2 droppersful of tincture several times daily, or powder (must be 100,000 HU or hotter), starting at 1/8 teaspoon and working up to 1 teaspoon 3x daily.
--Why does Dr. Schulze recommend doing a colon cleanse before or during 'kidney work'? Because the kidneys are in direct contact with the colon! And if the colon is in ANY way swollen or engorged (which it definitely is if we haven't done a thorough cleanse and are having 3-5 healthy bms daily), then the kidneys are being squished and pressured unnaturally and unhealthily...and this causes "lack of flow" throughout the kidneys (particularly where they're being squished). So I definitely suggest doing (what we all need to do any way) at least 30 days on IF#1 (if needed) and IF#2.
****
And that's what I would do if I were experiencing the symptoms you're reporting. Please let us know how things turned out with the doctor and how you're doing!
Healthiest of blessings -
Questions - my guess is some of these things apply to your 'history':
--In the car accident, did you experience kidney trauma or damage?
--Past MRI's? (the most common contrast agents have been known to cause very severe kidney damage, so depending upon the contrast agent, MRI's are always suspect) - you probably had at least one after the car accident (and maybe more). If so, did your kidney pain start after it/them?
--Any history of kidney compromise, frequent infections, kidney stones?
--Past chelation therapies? (many times VERY hard on the kidneys)
--Heart and circulation issues that you know of? (with high BP we know there's something)
--How much pure water do you drink daily? (pure= RO or distilled) -- it should be around a gallon daily
--How many times daily do you urinate? (8 is typical/healthy)
--'History of mineral supplementation (particularly calcium)? Is your water "hard" or do you drink mineral/spring water?
--How long has you been on BP med? what's the name/dosage? name/dosage of diuretic?
--When did you 'discover' you had high BP? What do you think is the cause?
