I agree that Ashlyn's hunger is almost certainly not "true hunger" which would not be experienced in the belly, would be be unspeakably powerful and would persist unrelentingly, continuing only to increase until satisfied, never temporarily going away on it's own.
I would only add that true hunger can also arise when one or more nutrient's run low even if there is plenty of body fat still in place... as happened with me in a very active fast about a year ago at 29 days and 16 hours. I would speculate that most people who fast to completion... unless very lean at the start... do so to the point of running low on some nutrient besides fat.
