Re: which water distiller. glass or stainless steel?

What country are you living in? You don't need to spend 700 euros. You can buy a counter top water distiller for around 200 euros. The base is stainless steel and if you spend a little more you can get a glass collection jug. I would personally avoid the plastic collection jug as it adds a chemical taste to the water and probably leaches nasty stuff into the water also.

If you buy a countertop distiller with a plastic collection jug you can buy a glass jug separately for around 40 euros which I think is worth it.

Here is an example of a countertop water distiller sold in the UK. http://aliveandaware.net/Waterwise-4000-Water-Steam-Distiller/M/B000ICRX8M.htm

You mentioned that you don't water to purchase filters every week ... well I use a Brita water filter to filter my distilled water in case their is any crap left behind.
