im hoping i didnt damage my liver. im sure my fast was very hard on it...
Hi Soldier : ),
What has lead you to believe your liver may have been damaged? As a general rule a fast will cleanse and heal your liver, optimizing it's functioning... not harm it.
im starting to worry though. my stomach has blown up like a balloon today and i had very mild discomfort at work.
... and i have really over done it the past couple days and over ate quit a bit. and id consider alot of what ive been eating healthy but ive had junk too. i had a small amount of ice cream last night and now i dont think it was the best of ideas. what do you think should i do?
It's interesting that the aggressive breaking of your fast has not begun to manifest itself negatively until now as if by cumulative effect over several days... after you had seemingly made it through the most digestively challenging period.
It's never good for us to over-eat even if it's with 100% healthy foods... and especially after a long fast when our digestive capabilities have been temporarily compromised.
I think the best thing you could do would be to slow it down, eating with the kind of careful moderation that would have been ideal all along, providing your digestive system a chance to catch up. This could be accomplished by eating a lot less and/or by eating more digestively simple foods (fruits/vegetables/juices) until you feel things are back under control.
I'm not sure how much of this you already know, but keep in mind that there is no need to make up for the 40 days of fasting by eating extra now. Your nutritional reserves carried you through these 40 days and your body was needing for nothing so there is nothing to make up for. Normal nutritious eating (without over-eating) will quickly replenish your nutritional stores to their pre-fast levels.
How are you doing now, do you have anything in the form of another update? :).
