Re: healing crisis...ugh...filtered water maybe?
Hey there kozz and welcome.
... i prepped for this fast pretty well, juicing for several days prior to water only.
Beautifully done and congrats on reaching day 4.
Day 4 on water hit and I can not even explain the degree of nausea and stomach upset I am experiencing. I broke out in a rash, I can barely get off the couch from lack of energy and shortness of breath and my body is freezing cold...
So I am wondering, maybe it is the water? the only thing I have really done differently with this fast is I am using purified water (Brita pitcher) instead of Distilled. I have always used Distilled from day 1 and typically have a very harsh time for a couple days, then everything evens out. Not this time!!
Before i learned, researched deeper and became thoroughly convinced that distilled water is far and away the best choice, i fasted many times without it and didn't experience the kind of major differences you are experiencing, so i personally don't believe it's the water causing these symptoms. It sounds like perhaps and early healing crisis. Nevertheless, i highly recommend that you switch to distilled water if this is within your means.
I wonder if I am just in for a slower detox using the Brita filtered water?
I believe this is true, but if you are detoxing slower, your strong detox reactions would be less likely to occur, not more likely... true?
I don't know how much you are drinking, but for your nausia/upset stomach, you might find that it improves by drinking only to thirst, resisting even light thirst and awaiting something stronger... and when thirsty, warm sipped water has a good chance of working better.
Not much you can do about feeling weak (except for activities that are counter productive to the fast such as exercising a lot and other non-resting activities which will slow the detox and thus make you feel stronger). Weakness and running out of breath easily are extremely common detox symptoms and the best thing you can do is lay down.
As to feeling cold, it is ideal that you keep warm and comfortable lest the body expend some of it's finite cleansing healing energies on this. Sweats, sweatshirt, ski hat, blankets, whatever it takes :).
