Re: The best water filtering system

Hi Springy,

Love the name. I live in Mexico most of the time where even Mexicans don;t drink the water. They use bottled water or drink soda. We knew a reliable source of water was critical to maintaining a lifestyle that didn't include recurring bouts of diarrhea or worse. We knew nothing about either water filters so I did a lot of research about both and found the Berkey to be a reliable filter from all the reports I read.

We bought a Berkey to try out under these rather extreme circumstances. We have been here for six years and I must say that our experience with it has been positive. We use it as our sole source of drinking and cooking water. It has proven reliable, easy to clean and provides water at much less cost than we would pay for  bottled water. The Berkey uses no electricity so it still provides a reliable source of water in an emergency where electric service is lost. Where we live, electrical outages are common and water service is also intermittant. When water service is not available we use water from a nearby lake to run through the Berkey.

You can find information about the Berkey on the following site - Berkey Water Filter System .

WHile the Berkey is not a whole house solution, I would still recommend it as a reliable source of water for your drinking a cooking.

Best of luck - Daniel Noll - Ajijic, Mexico
