Re: The other side of the coin: Caloric restriction is not THE key

ZlatinValchev,

it is more simple and natural for the body to convert sugar into energy than fats.
The Brain feeds primarily on glucose derived from complex carbohydrates.
Our bodies also need carbohydrates more than any other substance. Our muscle-cells and brains are designed to run on carbohydrates. Carbohydrate-rich foods, when consumed in their natural state, are low in calories and high in
fiber compared with fatty foods, processed foods, or animal products.

Not all fats or carbohydrates are good or bad and that animal proteins inflict many detrimental side effects to our health if taken to excess.

All calories come from only three elements: carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. The nutrients are derived from
noncaloric food factors—including vitamins, minerals, fibers, and phytochemicals. These noncaloric nutrients are vitally important for health.
The key to good health is to eat predominantly those foods that have a high proportion of nutrients (noncaloric food factors) to calories (carbohydrates, fats, and proteins).

The problem with a low-carb', high-fat diet with moderate protein does not necessarily make it a healthy one, because the low carbs' may be refined carbs', and therefore detrimental to health; the high-fat content could also be unhealthy if unhealthy fats are used, but low protein is a plus.
This type of diet is missing one crucial element in building health and remaining free from disease: little to no phytonutrients which are the food-chemicals that prevent serious diseases such as cancer.

Healthy blood sugar levels can be achieved with a diet that is mainly based on carbohydrates as long as those carbs' are complex-carbs' found in their natural state and are not refined.

I expect to get a bit of flack from this post, and probably a rebuttal or two, but this is the way I have been living for over 30 years and am in the very best of health.
