Re: New member seeking help please
I have been suffering with hypothyroid issues for the past year. Blood tests were normal and my doctor told me nothing was wrong with me. He basically said I have a sore throat and told me to take ibuprofen... If I want to lose weight I should cut out junk fund (which I don't eat).
Lab tests for thyroid function are notoriously inaccurate. A more accurate method of determining thyroid function is through basal body temperature. You should get at least a weeks worth of readings:

You should also avoid ibuprofen, which is an extremely dangerous drug. Side effects of ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Nuprin, etc.) include liver failure, kidney failure, aseptic meningitis, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), loss of vision, peptic ulcers, internal bleeding, etc. Contrary to popular belief these side effects do not require long term use or overdose. Liver failure and kidney failure can occur from a single recommended dose. People with congestive heart failure, arteriosclerosis, diabetes or any other cause of decreased circulation can develop these side effects from a single dose. For example 2 dozen people died from ibuprofen induced hepatitis during clinical trials of the drug. And nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, celecoxib (Celebrex) and naproxen (Aleve) kill an estimated 16,500 people a year and injure countless more.
I have gained more than 28 pounds while eating very little, my hair is falling out, my tongue and throat keep swelling, I'm tired and falling asleep on myself, dizzy etc. The tongue and throat swelling really scares me.
It sounds like you have some serious adrenal issues going on, which can also adversely affect the thyroid. Here is some information on building the adrenals:

My other issue is that I have a neurological/movement disorder (paroxysmal dyskinesia) and any meds or supplements I take cause my condition to worsen... I am not on any medication and react to B vitamins, magnesium, calcium, etc.
Paroxysmal dyskinesia appears in part to have a relation to adrenal dysfunction since stress aggravates the condition. There is also some suspicion that it may overlap some with seizure activity, but there is limited research backing this.
My recommendations here are to work on the adrenals, which will also help with the sensitivities. Glycine is a neurotransmitter inhibitor, which helps reduce overactivity of the brain and muscles. Glycine should be taken at least 30 minutes before meals to prevent absorption problems. I know you said you are sensitive to magnesium, but this is very important as both a muscle relaxant and as an ATP stimulator. Magnesium oxide is the most commonly sold form of magnesium, but it is crap. It is poorly absorbed, neutralizes the stomach acid and it burns the intestinal wall. Therefore magnesium oxide should be avoided altogether. Instead look for magnesium malate, which is better absorbed and the malic acid it is bound to is also an ATP precursor. Do not take it calcium since the magnesium works as a calcium channel blocker. Adding calcium will inhibit the effects that you would use it for.
I managed to see a specialist here in the UK who put me on nutri adrenal, nutri thyroid,
If these contain glandulars (freeze dried animal glands) then I recommend avoiding them. Long term use of glandulars atrophy the glands shutting them down. Glandulars should not be used for more than 2 weeks at a time.
vitamin c, co-enzyme Q10, tyrosine and selenium. Because of my sensitive nervous system, he didn't add the other supplements. I was only able to take them for a short time because I had a bad reaction (increased movements/fitting and insomnia) and so I've stopped. Now my tongue and throat are badly swollen.
There are several possibilities here including low adrenal and/or thyroid function, or a lack of B vitamins. B vitamins are best obtained from foods, not synthetic supplements.
Thankfully, I've discovered that I tolerate Lugol's Iodine really well. I was only taking 1 drop per day but since reading the posts here, I've upped it to 3 drops per day.
There are a number of reasons for hypothyroidism and iodine only addresses a few of them.
I am also still taking the vitamin C (1,000 mg), Norweigian cod liver oil, aloe vera drink and EV coconut oil. I'm going to try the selenium tomorrow to see if I can tolerate it. I don't eat wheat or anything with gluten, sugar, cabbage, kale, peanuts or anything I know to be a goitrogen. I use a non-flouride toothpaste, filter my water and am basically doing everything possible. Oh, and because of the abdominal bloat and constipation, I've just bought something called Colon Klenz-R.
Be careful. Many colon cleansers contain stimulant laxatives (senna, cascara sagrada, cape aloe also known as aloe ferox and rhubarb root. These can cause a laxative dependence after a few weeks of use. I recommend avoiding these altogether as well.
The bloating and constipation sound more like an issue of low stomach acidity and lack of intestinal flora. Here is more information on these:
