treatment for mild Pancreatitis

Hi,

was wondering what the general view is regarding treatment for mild pancreatidis? I've had mild persistant upper abdominal pain (about a 4 on the pain scale) for the past 4 weeks after a night of binge drinking. When i went to hospital the next day i was told that it was just gastritis and sent home.

What im wondering is if i should have been put on IV for a few days? Would this have made a difference? My gastroenterologist said he doesn't think so.

Note: 4 days later I had a blood test or regular ultrasound and was told that everything looked normal. I'm currently waiting on an EUS which should happen within the next two weeks. I've also been put on Acimax in case I've developed an ulcer. Occasionally using panadol for pain relief.

Also,

Being that my condition has carried on this long I was wondering what the chances of a complete recovery were?

Thanks
