I am 51, have been on birth control pills for about 20 years. I went in for general check up and my urine had 4 cells of blood in it vs. the norm (0-3). Had an ultrasound of abdomen which showed a solid hyperechoic mass in the liver. I then had a CT scan which determined it is a 5 cm giant hemangioma in the left hepatic lobe (liver). Researching on the internet, there seems to be a clear connection between oral contraceptives and liver hemangiomas as well as hepatic adenomas. I am going to stop taking the birth control pills as I was planning to anyway to test my state of menopause with my OB/GYN. I am curious about anyone having similar experiences and how common it is for a hemangioma to shink about ceasing birth control pills.
