If this is the case, then why do christians need to ask forgiveness of a god that is outside of themselves, or pray to a god outside of themselves. Why do christians need to have jesus save them? Why do christians fear the wrath of a god thats inside them?

If what you state is true, then christians, in effect, are praying to themselves, and asking themselves to be forgiven for that which themselves have done. They are asking themselves to be saved by themselves. IMO thats pretty warped logic.
