Re: Dr. Schulze talks about Menthol crystals Re: wintergreen oil and menthol crystals where to get them? Uny?
Great info - it's basically the same in the SYL manual.
One thing to note - it is IMPERATIVE for the menthol crystals to be organic - but the Thyme does not give NEARLY the same benefits as peppermint. Here's something you likely don't know (I didn't) - the mint does not *have* to be peppermint, but it has to be a variety of mint that has the same attributes as peppermint (some varieties do, some do not).
The species of mint - Mentha arvensis, has the following qualities (virtually identical to "peppermint"), and mentha arvensis is the mint most commonly used to produce menthol crystals.
Mentha arvensis: ...benefits the nervous system and useful in treatment of stress-related conditions such as headache, insomnia and nervous tension. Useful in treatment of skin problems such as acne, boils and ulcers. Useful in the treatment of circulation, muscles and joints complications and relieves arthritis, inflamed joints, muscular pains, rheumatism and sprains. Benefits the immune systems and useful in the treatment of colds, flu and infections. Useful with respiratory infections such as asthma, throat infections, laryngitis and fever. Useful in the treatment of the genitourinary system disorders such as amenorrhoea, labor pain and dysmenorrhoea.
It is very important that I not only share what I know, but that I teach & empower everyone to be able to know what questions to ask, and how I find the answers to their questions (and that I teach everyone how to find the same information without being dependant upon me, or anybody else). I sourced my first organic menthol crystals from India because I could not find a source of organic menthol crystals made from 'peppermint' anywhere else. Hence, it cost me a small fortune to make my first batch of Deep Tissue Repair Oil (many of the ingredients in this are VERY expensive). It wasn't until I learned that Mentha arvensis is virtually identical in therapeutic value to Peppermint (Mentha piperta), that I was able to make enough of the Oil to share & sell.
How to search & learn effectively - Google Advanced search engine is your BEST FRIEND - http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en
--because when using Google Advanced, you can "hone" your searches so you don't end up with hundreds of pages of 'results' with all kinds of information you do NOT need. Check out what it looks like below (and be sure to bookmark it :,
So, to learn how to search (so you can compare the benefits/qualities of each plant), here's what you'd do:
In the phrase line you'd put the ful botanical name of the plant (in this case, you'd be doing two separate searches - one for Menthus arvensis, and then another for Menthus piperta). So you type Menthus arvensis in the phrase line (you do not have to use quotes when using the Phrase line of Google Advanced - it will automatically know that you're search for the phrase you type, not the single words).
Then you go down to the line that says "one or more of these words"...and you say to yourself, "Hmmm what words would I want to go with that phrase that will get me sites that list the various benefits of this plant? What words have I commonly seen before a list of the benefits of various herbs?. Well, hmmm, usually I guess the world 'benefit' or 'benefits' is what I normally see...but it could be 'qualities' or 'attributes', too". And wallah, the words you put into those boxes are benefits, qualities & attributes. And when you get the results, you'll have all websites that have the phrase: Methus arvensis AND the word 'benefits' OR the word 'attributes' OR the word 'qualities'.
Then look through the results and find a few sites that seem legitimate & bookmark them and do a new Advanced search on Methus piperta to find the same (or leave the first search "open", and then open a new tab in your browser to do the new search). Then compare the results of the benefits of the two kinds of mint :)
Healthiest of blessings,
