I know Uny will be along soon and be able to point you to some quality sources for the wintergreen essential oil and menthol crystals (peppermint). I found this ingredient list for Uny's Deep Tissue Repair Oil. Is that the formula you are asking about? This is the list of ingredients in Uny's Deep Tissue Repair Oil: Deep Tissue Repair Oil - ALL ingredients are certified organic! Essential Oil of Wintergreen, Menthol crystals (peppermint), Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Arnica, St. Johns Wort, Calendula, Cayenne & Ginger I took this ingredient list from her post, Herbal Apothecary Current Product List: http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1381568
She lists menthol crystals (peppermint). I don't know if she uses the plant or an essential oil of peppermint. It seems I have read about the use of menthol crystals and how to use them, but could not locate the information... Sorry. I did find this in Dr. Schulze's Natural Crusade Handbook under: The Muscular / Connective Tissue System Dr. Schulzes Deep Tissue Repair Oil Formula (Formulae ingredients are in blue) Anti-inflamatory Wintergreen leaf, oil Gaultheria procumbens Anti-inflamatory / Anodyne Peppermint leaf, oil Mentha piperita Increases Circulation Menthol Willow bark Salix alba Anti-inflamatory / Anodyne Counter Irritants Cayenne fruit Capsicum annum CI Ginger rhizome Zingiber officinale CI Mustard seed Brassica alba / nigra CI Cinnamon bark, oil Cinnamonum zeylanicum CI Trauma St. Johnswort flower, oil Hypericum perforatum Trauma Marigold flower Calendula officinalis Trauma Arnica flower Arnica montana Trauma Comfrey leaf, root Symphytum officinale Trauma, bone Aloe leaf, gel Aloe vera Speeds healing Yarrow herb Achillea millefolium Styptic Antispasmodic Lobelia leaf, seed Lobelia infiata Antispasmodic Lavender flowers, oil Lavendula vera Antispasmodic Black Cohosh root Cimicifuga racemosa Antispasmodic The Skeletal System Aloe leaf gel Aloe vera Allantoin Comfrey leaf, root Symphytum officinale Allantoin, knit-bone High Calcium Foods, Carrot Juice, Kelp, Sesame seeds, dulse, Greens, see Botanical Nutrition
I do have some information I have collected on peppermint and wintergreen essential oils. Here are the links to my posts if you are interested: Peppermint (Mentha piperita) essential oil 12 Good Reasons to Use Peppermint Essential Oil: http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=871867#i

Dr. Schulze talks about Menthol Crystals
Curing With Cayenne: The Untold Story (I THINK this was 1997)
For Arthritis and Joint problems:
Cayenne heating oil
Into 16 ounces of Wintergreen oil, soak 8 tablespoons of Cayenne pepper and 4 tablespoons of Ginger root and 4 tablespoons of Mustard powder. Let it set from the New Moon to the Fu]l Moon. Strain and add 6 ounces of Menthol crystals.
A word on obtaining ingredients:
1) Regarding cayenne pepper, the hotter, the better. Use African bird peppers, or habeneros.
2) Buy your menthol crystals at either a pharmacy or a lab supply house. That can be a little difficult, but usually one or the other can supply it. A lot of pharmacists carry it, because it stops itching.
What they do is distill peppermint oil to make it, and then they distill it a second time and it crystallizes.
These crystals are pure menthol. Menthol is one of the active principles of peppermint oil. You have peppermint leaves, which have a lot of active principals, then you have peppermint oil, which is a more concentrated form, and.then you have menthol crystals, which is even more concentrated.
Make sure the menthol crystals are made from peppermint or thyme. Chemists always know that.
I get it from a chemical supply house in Los Angeles. But a lot of times, people can contact a local university or school, and ask them where they can purchase some chemicals.
You need a chemical supply house that sells natural chemicals that are derived from plants.
INTERVIEWER: How do you get the menthol crystals to dissolve into the oil?
SCHULZE: The way we’ve been doing it recently is, once you put the menthol into the oil, we set that on the floor and then we have a radiant heater that has a coil inside of it on the other side of the room. We face it in that direction, and by the end of the day, the heat melts the crystals.
In the summer, just put the jar in the sun for a few hours, or put the jar in a double boiler.
INTERVIEWER: That dissolves it into the peppermint oil?
SCIIULZE: Yes, and it just has to be warm. You could also put it over a heat register and it would work. There are a lot of ways to do it.
Great info - it's basically the same in the SYL manual.
One thing to note - it is IMPERATIVE for the menthol crystals to be organic - but the Thyme does not give NEARLY the same benefits as peppermint. Here's something you likely don't know (I didn't) - the mint does not *have* to be peppermint, but it has to be a variety of mint that has the same attributes as peppermint (some varieties do, some do not).
The species of mint - Mentha arvensis, has the following qualities (virtually identical to "peppermint"), and mentha arvensis is the mint most commonly used to produce menthol crystals.
Mentha arvensis: ...benefits the nervous system and useful in treatment of stress-related conditions such as headache, insomnia and nervous tension. Useful in treatment of skin problems such as acne, boils and ulcers. Useful in the treatment of circulation, muscles and joints complications and relieves arthritis, inflamed joints, muscular pains, rheumatism and sprains. Benefits the immune systems and useful in the treatment of colds, flu and infections. Useful with respiratory infections such as asthma, throat infections, laryngitis and fever. Useful in the treatment of the genitourinary system disorders such as amenorrhoea, labor pain and dysmenorrhoea.
It is very important that I not only share what I know, but that I teach & empower everyone to be able to know what questions to ask, and how I find the answers to their questions (and that I teach everyone how to find the same information without being dependant upon me, or anybody else). I sourced my first organic menthol crystals from India because I could not find a source of organic menthol crystals made from 'peppermint' anywhere else. Hence, it cost me a small fortune to make my first batch of Deep Tissue Repair Oil (many of the ingredients in this are VERY expensive). It wasn't until I learned that Mentha arvensis is virtually identical in therapeutic value to Peppermint (Mentha piperta), that I was able to make enough of the Oil to share & sell.
How to search & learn effectively - Google Advanced search engine is your BEST FRIEND - http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en
--because when using Google Advanced, you can "hone" your searches so you don't end up with hundreds of pages of 'results' with all kinds of information you do NOT need. Check out what it looks like below (and be sure to bookmark it :,
So, to learn how to search (so you can compare the benefits/qualities of each plant), here's what you'd do:
In the phrase line you'd put the ful botanical name of the plant (in this case, you'd be doing two separate searches - one for Menthus arvensis, and then another for Menthus piperta). So you type Menthus arvensis in the phrase line (you do not have to use quotes when using the Phrase line of Google Advanced - it will automatically know that you're search for the phrase you type, not the single words).
Then you go down to the line that says "one or more of these words"...and you say to yourself, "Hmmm what words would I want to go with that phrase that will get me sites that list the various benefits of this plant? What words have I commonly seen before a list of the benefits of various herbs?. Well, hmmm, usually I guess the world 'benefit' or 'benefits' is what I normally see...but it could be 'qualities' or 'attributes', too". And wallah, the words you put into those boxes are benefits, qualities & attributes. And when you get the results, you'll have all websites that have the phrase: Methus arvensis AND the word 'benefits' OR the word 'attributes' OR the word 'qualities'.
Then look through the results and find a few sites that seem legitimate & bookmark them and do a new Advanced search on Methus piperta to find the same (or leave the first search "open", and then open a new tab in your browser to do the new search). Then compare the results of the benefits of the two kinds of mint :)

Organic Menthol crystals = a supplier we all use regularly
Essential Oil of Wintergreen, 100% organic = it took me almost "2 days worth of hours" to find a source for certified organic, essential wintergreen oil.
My goal to teach everyone how to make their own herbal healing products, and part of that is learning how to find sources for the ingredients. If I simply give my sources for all the 'difficult to find products', those I'm/we're teaching become dependent upon the teacher...and that's NOT "good teaching" :)
A good teacher doesn't give answers, a good teacher teaches someone how to find their OWN answers.
And besides :::wink & a grin::: Come ON! I've spent YEARS 'sourcing sources' and it's easily cost me thousands of dollars worth of time & hours to do it. My calling is to teach & empower people with the knowledge they need to heal themselves and provide the best quality products that it's possible to create. My calling is NOT to sit in a chair 16 hours a day to do searches that others can easily do for themselves! Besides (like I mentioned above), it IS my calling to ensure that everyone I teach IS self-sufficient and learns how to find the knowledge they need....SO, in the famous words of Rocky:
click to hear (because everytime I embed it, it plays before you click it :( http://curezone.com/upload/_N_Forums/Natural_Heali/MUHAHA.wav
...it's time everyone start learning how to search efficiently! ONWARD!!!
SO, here's a link to Google Advanced Search engine:
http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en
Here's what the screen will look like (below), with a brief tutorial below that on how to use this wonderful search tool to your best benefit:
One of the biggest problems with "one line" regular search engines is that most people don't know how to use them effectively (or won't take the time to learn, or don't know where to look to find out how to learn), so they end up searching through zillions of pages of worthless data and never find what they're looking for effectively. Quickly, all search engines are based on some type of "Boolean Code" - a semi-mathematical code that allows you to tweak your searching to be more effective. Typical symbols & phrases of Boolean code are " ", +, -, AND, OR, NOT, * - it's not really all that hard to learn, but with the Google Advanced search engine, you really don't need it at ALL!
Let's say you want to buy (online) a signed Mickey Mantle baseball card. If you type in that whole phrase in a typical search box, you get a hit from every site that has the word: Mickey; every site that has the word: signed: every site that has the word: Mantle; every site that has the word: baseball; and every site that has the word: card. If the search engine is programmed to be "intuitive", it may give the top results with all the words together...but you'll still be searching for 'days worth of hours' to find all the hits (and many of them won't have cards for sale, they'll just have information that relates somehow to your search words).
BUT if you use Boolean code (or if you use Google advanced), you can knock out a HUGE percentage of the irrelevant results. In typical Boolean you'd code the search like this: "signed Mickey Mantle baseball card" +basket OR cart. Then all your results would contain the phrase "signed Mickey Mantle baseball card" and the word "cart" or "basket" (which generally takes you to sites where there are shopping carts or shopping baskets). To do this using Google advanced, just type the phrase above into the box that says: this exact wording or phrase...and then in the boxes by one or more of these words, type 'basket' into one box, and 'cart' into another. And you're results will be a zillion times more effective. Onward -
So, you're wanting to find organic essential oil of wintergreen for sale online (and you certainly want MORE than the typical .5 oz size - because if you're going to make a full batch, you need 32 ounces...or 16 oz for a half-batch, or 8 oz for a 1/4 batch, etc) - but you don't know how the site selling it is going to word the phrase describing their product. So you start by typing in a phrase (containing the words: essential, organic, oil, wintergreen), and if you don't get the results you want - change the order of the words in the phrase and try again, and again, and again, until you've exhausted all the combinations.
For this search, I added the OR words of: "32 ounces", "32 oz" and "liter" (if you're using more than one word in each of the OR boxes, you must put quotes around them so Google knows you're looking for the phrase and not the separate words). I was not about to pay $5-$12 for 1/2 oz 64 times to get the 32 oz I needed - I wanted to buy a large size in one bottle and get the best price I could find. So I started with 32 ounces, but I could have started with a smaller size or used different sizes in the OR boxes ("32 oz", "16 oz", "8 oz", etc).
Two final things -
--if you search for hours (being sure to bookmark each search!) and still can't find what you need, if you'll post/paste all the bookmarks of the searches you did (so I can help you figure out what you're doing wrong), I'll be happy to explain the errors and get you on the right track so that you can find what you're needing.
--Curezone's search engine is totally lame. It's supposed to be a Google search engine (or says it is), but it doesn't utilize any type of Boolean code that Google uses, and it really very difficult to utilize. HOWEVER, if you use Google Advanced, you see on the very last line of the options, there's a line where you can enter a specific url (curezone.com) - and if you use that, Google will only search Curezone...and I've found my searches are much more effective that way.
