Re: Turmeric Treats Candida Infection and Colorectal Cancers
Interesting that the article references Curezone as a source. Yet the link/post actually quotes other references. Kinda' silly.
I have a problem with this:
>> Conventional medicine treats Candida with antifungal drugs, usually Nystatin. This drug is made from a mold, which acts by competing with other molds and fungus, such as Candida, for food in the gut.
Inaccurate. Nystatin works by lysing or "punching holes" in the cell wall of the organism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nystatin
Mechanism of action
Like amphotericin B and natamycin, nystatin binds to ergosterol, a major component of the fungal cell membrane. When present in sufficient concentrations, it forms pores in the membrane that lead to K+ leakage and death of the fungus. Ergosterol is fairly unique to fungi, so the drug does not have such catastrophic effects on animals.

I'll be interested in learning what H has to say to the content of this article. Some really good information (turmeric), but some fairly unsubstantiated info as well (causes of infection/overgrowth).
Thanks for posting.
