Separation vs connection (god)
This is a decent post that actually deserves a decent answer. Thank you.
"If someone is going to bash Christianity, this is the correct forum to do so, but why don't I see this same amount of anti religion activity on other religious forums?"
First of all what you see and take offense (bashing)to is an exploration, stimulation, to take a look at incoherent beliefs. There are many ways to come around these issues ranging from straight on information to comedy. All methods leverage in different ways. If you are offended by the exploration you have a couple options. You can either disengage from the process or you can look at what the exploration stirs within you (the second option offers spiritual growth.
"Is it politically correct now to fight the cause of Christianity because it has been so interlaced into our culture that people can not stand the feel of it rubbing upon their skin anymore? If Christianity gets trampled on and disrespected enough, perhaps non Christian ideas can take hold and different concepts can have a chance to be tried?"
I can only speak for myself on this one. Christianity in the North America is a belief system that has spread like a mind numbing virus. This belief system works to hive the mind in a very dysfunctional way. Christianity does not own morality. In fact morality is common across many cultures, many of which hold other beliefs beyond christianity. What christianity does have woven in to it, is a model of separation, meaning that there is an idea that god is separate from its creation, that god has a personality (schizophrenic) and has a "do as I say not as I do," mentality. Also the character icon of the christian god also has an abusive nature while maintaining a "love me or else" posture.
Also associated with the belief system of christianity are extreme prejudices such as the inequality of women, the bashing of gays, etc. We have seen such incredible inclusions in the bible such as how to offer a blood sacrifice (loving god huh) and how to treat your slaves. There are many other nasty things attributed to the fable that people took on as some universal truth. It is the taking on of this fable that has caused untold suffering in many ways from religious wars, to sanctioned abuse. It is a belief system that operates on fear and hate as they are reverberations of the god character.
Once we look at all of this we can plainly see that man painted a face on a god and not the other way around. It is a dysfunctional belief system at best. Most beliefs are, but this one ranks up there as being one of the top dogs for limiting the mind of man while stimulating suffering in the process.
"Let MAN reign" is the message that atheists are sharing. This is a satanic belief system whether you want to admit it or not. Of course christians will not agree with this even if you Sugar coat it with new age "looking within" to find god....because what you are really saying is you ARE god, not looking to the Holy Spirit within you."
I think that message is painted on atheists out of the fact that they just don't believe there is a "daddy god" character ruling the roost, so with that out of the way, they then take responsibility for creating a life/world. Most atheists are just as moral, if not more so, than any christian. I'll bet the don't need to kill goats for their sins either ;-) They just remove the mean angry god dysfunction and the fear that also goes with it and get on with their lives.
As far as being god, my personal experience has led me to the term infinite potential. Some would say that god is everything and you can not separate it from itself. What does it truly mean that god created us in "his" image? Seems like a holographic reference to me.
The trap for the christian mind is one of circular logic where they have faith that the bible is the word of god so no new information can ever enter the mind. This keeps the mind within the trap. Defending the belief must also come from the limitations of accepting the book as some universal truth. This creates a lot of discomfort as can be seen in this forum where christians resort to name calling, etc because they don't really have a logical leg to stand on. It does demonstrate nicely the belief system in action though.
"Just because atheism aggrandizes the ego and makes someone believe they are a god, does not make it so. Ego sees everything that is not self, as a danger to its existence....it's the atheist ego that is fear based...not christianity.
"
Actually christianity also plays on the ego through anger and fear. Look at the character in the bible referred to as god. This is the epitamy of an egoic character. By believing in this character, one takes on the characteristics through resonation. Ego is actually the human aspect of separation. It is the lens that allows us to be individuals. If you look at this wider, you will soon see that infinite potential/god has a dualistic nature. One of totality and one of seperation (ego). This is how, in the god as everything concept, that god experiences itself. This concept maintains connectivity while allowing for the experience of a participatory universe to unfold.
This takes us far, far beyond the "guy in the sky playing some psychotic soul mining game," model of reality. In fact it allows all people to have their own experience.
Belief systems, like christianity, are dangerous in that they claim some exclusivity, limiting human and spiritual potential greatly. If you look into history you will see that religions have been the main driving force of most dysfunction and the catalysts for more human suffering than anything else.
Footnotes to ponder...
Infinite potential = all that is = god.
Separation(biblical god) vs connection( god of all or infinite potential)
Love = connection not separation. This is easy to see in the bible that the love presented by the god character is very conditional. Conditional love = separation and dysfunction.
God has a dual nature...separation through ego and connection through totality
