They may have.... however.. I do not believe we were intended to eat isolates of any form.
I have not studied the science of foods... but speculate there are an almost infinite # of properties associated with whole foods that scientists do not know about... vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients.. they are barely scratching the surface.
Each whole fruit is designed perfectly .. we are best to consume them that way.
You can do a lot worse than good olive oil... btw... but I certainly prefer to eat and really taste the overt fats I consume....
