I make soups similar to this all the time. In fact, right now I am roasting a pan full of carrots, sweet potatoes, garlic cloves, sliced shallots, fresh ginger, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and olive oil. In about 20 more minutes, I'll puree all of this with a few springs of fresh sage and vegetable broth. Yummy!
