Re: Are we bromine toxic?
"If more
Iodine is present in our environment and diet as opposed to bromide, then would our bodies eventually balance out depending on exposure factors?"
I sure do hope so:)
I think that periodic
Iodine "flushes" may be a good idea.

Here's more good info on bromides:
http://www.lenntech.com/periodic/elements/br.htm
"Bromine is a naturally occurring element that can be found in many inorganic substances. Humans however, have many years ago started the introduction of organic bromines in the environment. These are all compounds that are not natural and can cause serious harm to human health and the environment.
In diffuse crustal rock bromine naturally occurs as bromide salts. Bromine salts have accumulated in sea water (85 ppm), from which bromine is extracted."
BTW, please note that it is the "organic" forms of bromide that are problematic, just as it is the "organic" forms of
Iodine that are problematic. The difference explained here:

Even though that website asserts that " I have not found a cell receptor for Bromine (Br) to date, and at this time, bromine has not
been classified as being essential to human health." -there is conflicting info out there. In "Minerals for the Genetic Code", Charles Walters states "Bromine is found in trace amounts throughout the body...and...when you lose bromine, you get Parkinson's".
Bromides are present in foods, as is arsenic, aluminum and fluoride.

I'm afraid that I am raising more questions than I am answering...:)
