Re: Raw Diet: Confused about percent of fat, protein, carbs
Hi Beth,
If you're not familiar with food combining I would really recommend reading Natalia Rose's Raw Food Detox Diet. It's a great introduction and unlike a lot of raw food books she doesn't pressure you to go 100%, but instead makes suggestions of various non-raw foods which work well in a mostly raw diet.
This is the book I started with, and there's a really simple explanation of food combining, or as she calls it, 'Quick Exit Strategies', which is the whole point of eating raw foods. The faster your body can assimilate and eliminate what you eat, and have more energy to 'clean house', the less things toxicify by getting stuck in your gut and attracting bad bacteria and fungi.
I think there's often too much emphasis with only eating raw (I certainly fell into it), rather than making sure to eat in a manner which keeps your internal environment unclogged and clear. Cooked food really isn't the enemy, eating anything which your body has to struggle to process is, so raw foods are a great help :)
Best wishes
