Before Snopes, People wrote about the earth being round instead of flat in 500 BC.

Today the same theory is written, and taught because it is a truth. Many more between 500 BC, and today have written about the same thing.

Now sit down, and hold on. Snopes didn't say the premise was a lie, or false, only that the origination wasn't known, and that the same thing had been written before.
