The only thing I have to go on is the doctor's diagnosis and the fact that Dad is no longer here. As I understand it multiple myeloma is similar to leukemia and has characteristics of an auto-immune disease also. Dad was quite weak from the triple bypass and "mini-strokes" that he had so he was susceptable to further disease. When the doctors gave this diagnosis I think that he just gave up. He was a very proud man and he was ashamed that he could no longer take basic care of himself. If I had been armed with this information 10 years ago (and been able to convince him) he might still be here today. He was of the generation that put implicit trust in their doctors and generally didn't look for a second opinion, especially from that wacky alternative bunch.
That's very cool that you beat whatever it was. Sometimes I think that we would be better off if we just ignored the hospitals unless one has actual physical damage like a broken bone or the like. (My 2cents)
