chronic rhinitis
I have chronic rhinitis and always have. I've always been the bubble girl, sneezing, on meds as a kid and into my mid twenties - anti-histamines, nebulizer treatments, allergy tests **allergy shots for years**, inhalers -for several years on a steroidal inhaler as an early teen and albuterol, decongestants - you name it. Hayfever does not begin to cover it. I have to use nasal spray a few times a week or I get a serious sinus infection and I'm ill for a month. I've tried cayenne nasal sprays, homeopathic nasal sprays - homeopathic anti-allergy stuff and all kinds of adrenal adaptogens - neti pots with recipes in them -
everything you can think of...until herbal snuff.
I will so do this. I will tell you the saddest thing ever. I stopped singing for this. It got bad after I had a breakdown which was the emotional reason I stopped singing - but physically - I got up to so many performances and had to cancel for severe sinus infections. My mother wouldn't let them put tubes in my ears as a kid and she stopped short of letting them surgically drain my sinuses as a teenager so I could keep singing. I stopped because I was so inconsistent I couldn't plan on singing and know that I could.
...that's the real reason I went to art school and studied painting. I'm not kidding. I was not a painter - I was a singer. I found painting because I had to pick an art form I could do quietly, by myself behind something for my allergies and chronic anxiety.
Hopefully I'll start singing my butt off after this thing! Ha!!
