Birth Stories: please share them...Re: Natural Birthing- everyone PLEASE watch these videos!

Willow,

Thank you for sharing one of the most precious moments of your life here.

I think one of the things Elena said that impacted me so much is that of creating a sacred space when birthing a child. And your birthing experience was sacred.

I was honored to become the mother of seven of the most wonderful people that grace Earth today. All of them were born naturally, five at home, one in a hospital setting, and one in a birthing center. The two who were born away from home were only born where they were because the local midwife had been run out on a rail the year before we moved here by the PTB. I have always believed in home birth, but also respect the wishes of parents to birth where ever they feel the most comfortable.

I was interested to know where my granddaughter would be born, since her mother was born at home. My daughter chose a birthing center setting with the famed Austin Midwives. She elected to have a water birth, and to have only her sweet husband present for the midwife-attended birth... even though both grandmothers were MORE than willing to take pictures or bring juice, or anything else remotely needed. :) I did get to come in to the birthing room for a few minutes while my daughter was 9+ cm dilated. She looked like a Zen Goddess in that hot tub. She was on another plane- completely relaxed, eyes closed, with a picture of bliss and calm on her face. Her husband was behind her, supporting her and whispering to her, the room was dark, votive candles were lit, the midwives whispered and tiptoed about the room while watching my daughter's every movement. The whole atmosphere was very much like that of a temple.

From the family waiting area we all heard that first cry. My daughter said later that my granddaughter was lifted out of the water and placed on my daughter's chest to nuzzle. My son-in-law announced the gender, the time of birth, and cut the cord. He could have caught the baby if he felt comfortable. While my daughter was getting cleaned up, my son-in-law brought a little pink bundle out to the family room to meet everybody.:)

Blessings,

Wings
