All I can say is AWESOME!!!
I've only watched the video you posted, I'll have to watch the others later when I have time but I did want to comment on this one because what she said confirmed some circumstances in my own life that I instinctively knew but didn't know how to voice.
Five years into my first marriage I wasn't happy, it wasn't bad at all like some marriages I've heard about, I just was not happy and neither was my husband. A month after the spilt up and during the divorce proceedings I found out I was pregnant with my son. We were both happy about the child but still went through with the divorce. By that time I had settled in my own home and had a life separate from my husband and was relishing my new found happiness which was made even better by the prospect of having my child.
We decided early on in my pregnancy we would do this thing together even though we were in the process of divorce. We laughed and we cried with each new discovery like the first time the baby kicked. We researched which method of birth would be the best. I had decided on a natural birth so we started our research there. We decided on "The Leboyer Method." For some reason where I lived not many people knew about it but I was determined to have my baby this way. My son was born in a very dimly lit room with whispering only, no loud noises were allowed, even from me lol . My son was immediately placed on my stomach before the cord was cut. After a few minutes my by then ex-husband guided by the doctor cut the cord, then my son was placed in a warm bath and massaged by my ex-husband and a nurse for awhile. My son never cried in the delivery room, not once, everything was extremely calm and relaxed and joyful!
I said all that to say this. We women are extremely powerful and even under difficult circumstances we have the power to have a positive impact on the outcome of any situation. In this instance I'll have to give credit to my ex-husband for his part in the nurturing, love and care of our son while he was still in my womb. We set out to nurture our child lovingly before he was born, doing everything in our power with intention to make sure our son knew he was loved from conception.
I only have this one child and he has been the joy of my life. He is living proof of the power we as women have to impact and create the environment in which we and others live. My son is very different from a lot of his friends and always has been. There is an instinctive calmness about him that I didn't see in others his age throughout his growing up years and even now with his peers. I attribute this to the way we nurtured him before he was even born and also to the method used when he was born. A lot of my friends thought I was crazy to use this method, they didn't believe in all the mumbo jumbo talk of being born in a calming environment but I'm telling you it was like nothing I had ever seen before. Normally babies scream when they are born, not so with my son and I have no doubt it has affected his whole being. The whole birth was very powerful but at the same time very calming and sedate.
Thank you Wings for sharing this with us. I can't wait to watch the rest of the videos. I agree, this woman speaks the absolute truth.
Blessings,
Willow
What a wonderful story of your granddaughters birth. I've always thought a water birth was so natural, it must have been so relaxing.
I hope you've written an account for your granddaughter for her to keep since you're such a great writer. I'm sure when she reaches adulthood she would appreciate knowing her mother looked like a Zen Goddess and that she was born in a room filled with candles and so much love. That is so cool.
Goodness you had five at home, that is amazing. You rock! Thank you for sharing, I just love to hear stories that affirm life and love.
Blessings,
Willow
Hey eme, I don't blame you making your husband stay with your daughter what with everything that goes on in hospitals these days!
Its beautiful that your husband got all that bonding time with her, really special and to be able to have your grandmother there must have made it perfect I bet.
