thanks, very enlightening on the whole acid/alkaline balance thing. One question then - why does the saliv ph of people vary so much? Mine tends to be 5.5 or below, when measured in the mornings. My wife's tends to be around 7. There's a survey onhttp://www.alkalizeforhealth.net/salivaphtest.htm
which shows that the majority of cancer patients tend to have lower saliva ph.

This is why I don't trust saliva pH testing. Foods, the amount of saliva secretion and the amount of bacteria in the mouth at any one time will all alter the pH of the mouth. It is not a true indicator of blood pH.
