thanks, very enlightening on the whole acid/alkaline balance thing. One question then - why does the saliv ph of people vary so much? Mine tends to be 5.5 or below, when measured in the mornings. My wife's tends to be around 7. There's a survey on http://www.alkalizeforhealth.net/salivaphtest.htm

which shows that the majority of cancer patients tend to have lower saliva ph.
