Milk of magnesia also works topically


for pain and stiffness.

I use the plain unflavored kind, and add my own quality veg oil and peppermint oil.

For hard-to-reach areas, can dampen a tea towel with MOM [lighter fabric than conventional towels] then drape over these spots.

I have a friend with post-polio syndrome and very little use of her arms giving this a try. Also, worked for me when I was very stiff and inflexible.
