Re: When to take Betaine HCL and Digestive Enzymes?

hey scar im getting interested in these bitters. Can you please tell me what they are and where I can buy them? I'd like to try them

Bitters are any bitter tasting herbs. They are often sold in combinations and in liquid such as Grape Bitters, Swedish Bitters, Chinese Bitters, etc. When they are put on the tongue and you swallow they stimulate the bitter receptors on the back of the tongue. This in turn stimulates the vagus nerve, which stimulates the release of stomach acid, bile and digestive enzymes. This also stimulates the liver to flush and has a mild stimulatory effect on the intestines. Because they cleanse the liver you need to drink a lot of water throughout the day when using them.

Recommended dose is half a dropper full on the tongue right before meals. The bottles often say 1 teaspoon, but ignore this. You only need to stimulate the bitter receptors, which requires tasting it. You do not need high doses for a chemical reaction in the body as with regular herbal therapy.
