Re: ozonator?
I'm with you Marci. I had a molecular enhancer that gave off a huge amount of ozone that stunk up the house and that's when everyone was saying ozone causes cancer.
That is very misleading. Ozone actually cures cancer. In fact it is one of the safest and most effective cancer therapies you will ever find. But like anything, including oxygen or water, it can be harmful in high concentrations. This includes causing severe inflammation, which is linked to cancer. This is why ozone units should be adjustable if they are capable of producing high concentrations so they can be adjusted to room size. They should also be placed as high as possible as ozone is heavy and sinks. This will allow it to oxidize compounds as it sinks, and break itself down, which reduces the ozone concentration at face level.
I gave the thing away at 1/4 the price. I don't trust ozone. Isn't the ozone layer miles up in the atmosphere?
We breathe in ozone everytime we walk outside during the daytime. The UV light of the sun reacts with oxygen in the air around us forming ozone. This is why sunlight is a disinfectant and bleaches out materials. It is also the sweet smell we smell after thunderstorms, or when around copying machines.
I need to see more facts that it works and that it isn't dangerous because it's not something we can tell if it's working or making things worse, like in your frig.
Like everything, dosage makes the poison. Too much of any vitamin or mineral will also harm you. This does not mean we should avoid them. Many substances are beneficial to the body in small amounts, but harmful in high doses.
There could be some units that cost a lot of money but don't work. You should have noticed food lasting longer.
Again those units are extremely low output corona discharge units. Because they are battery powered they are not going to put out enough ozone to do squat. The most they will do is to help reduce some odors. They are not going to produce enough ozone to kill spoilage microbes or to control ethylene gas production.
Hv had a good point with mold. If we held it near mold for 10 seconds and saw the mold disappear then we could believe.
That would require higher ozone concentrations. If you took pure high quality bleach and poured it on mold it would be destroyed by oxidation. This would be like using a high output UV or corona discharge system. These fridge units would be like taking a few drops of that bleach and adding it to a gallon of water and trying to destroy the mold.
We're doubting Tomasina's;-)
