Re: ultraviolet light (edited)

I bought one of the frig things with ozone that is supposed to keep foods fresher longer but I didn't notice any difference. I even forget the thing was in the frig.

These are battery powered corona discharge units. They will only produce traces of ozone, just like the car ozonators that plug in to the car outlet. I would not waste my time with such a low output unit.

I have a mental block on the ozone subject. Can't wrap my brain around what it IS and how it WORKS. It just sounds sci fi to me [although I LOVE sci fi] and the machines sound freaky and dangerous.

The concept is very simple. As ozone (O3) breaks down it produces singlet oxygen (O), which is a highly reactive oxidizer. So it destroys pathogens and many chemicals through oxidation, pretty much like bleach does. There is more that goes on if used for therapy such as cytokine formation, white blood cell stimualtion, etc.

But I'm trying to learn!!!
