I have a removable partial currently. It's not great but works :p
Maryland bridge is just the type of bridge. I think you can get zirconium or porcelain wings. I wouldn't want any metal in my mouth to be honest.
The problem with normal bridges is, that they basically have to remove up to 1 third of the original tooth, and place a cap on it

The reason maryland bridges are better, is because they are less destructive to the adjacent teeth. Like someone else on here said, you don't really want to be destroying adjacent teeth :o
As for implants, I will just try and research more. I'll quiz the dentist I went to see more when i go back there in September for a check up.
