Re: Medicine: Goiter. Time Magazine, 1931
Very interesting posts.
"Dr. C. Alexander Hellwig, 42, of St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kan. doubted that theory. He had noted as had others that a diet low in iodine, high in calcium produced the most pronounced goiters. He believed there must be a positive cause for goitrous enlargement of the thyroid, probably calcium."
I love it when people doubt a theory and put it to a test.
I have avoided calcium as the plague for a couple of years; as the rest of the folks here do loads of it; and dont get any better of anything; especially osteoporosis.
I recall a study showing that the lowest osteoporosis countries is where lowest calcium is ingested.
In Norway they had a study showing that cod liver oil actually increased osteoporosis; but this is such a popular product here, so they never went public (big media) with it.
We are told all the time to take our cod liver and two glasses of milk daily (or take calcium supplements). We have loads of osteoporosis.
