Re: Question Regarding my 4 Year Old Daughter
I've had these spots, no patches, on arms and legs mostly, and i thought they were vitiligo, even though never diagnoised. The fact i'm hypothyroid, these sort of autoimmune conditions do tend to go hand in hand. And i'm 54.
I noticed mine after going on Armour and high dose iodine, don't use
Iodine now though.
Hv says strengthening the adrenals will help with autoimmune issues too.
I printed some info off a website ages ago. Low stomach acid makes it difficult for the body to absorb vit B12 and folic acid, both necessary for melanin production, which ties in with my low stomach acid and what hv says.
zinc and copper are also required for melanin production and for thyroid balance.
Too much
Iodine can cause boron dumping, that happened to me as my mineral test indicated after high dose iodine.
tyrosine is used to make thyroid, so
Iodine supplemention may divert scarce tyrosine to thryoid production and cause a deiciency for melanin production.
This write up which is quite long is actually saying that suppplementing with iodine can cause vitilgo. Which ties in exactly with what happened to me.
Low stomach acid can also a cause and can make worse rosecea, i also have that mildly.
It is a really interesting write up, but clinical research shows that many vitiligo patients have abnormally low levels of folic acid, vit B12, and C and other research reveals that copper and zinc are reduced in vitiliginous skin.
You can see why people with low thyroid function get all these conditions now. You need the same nutrients for both
I had this stuck in a folder and haven't read it for ages, and had forgotten what it said. We also need PABA, Pantothenic acid. You also need sunlight to help transfer the melanin.
So now i'm increasing my stomach acid, i may well see an improvement in these condtions, but i wouldn't think a four year old would have low stomach acid, or have too much iodine.
