Re: helpful rant for newbie.

There are studies on the negatives of fin...and other info out there including http://www.propeciasideeffects.com/ and the benifits of DHT as discussed here: http://www.hairsite4.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=9&topic_...

My apologies to Curezone if the links aren't supposed to be used. I didn't see anything on this page saying it wouldn't be so I hope it's ok.

The reasons why I decided on the products I use is because of the ingredients and the delivery systems. That's what sets them apart from the vast majority of products out there...the liposomal vehicles. A # of the ingredients also cannot be found in other products..such as the Rooibos and Sohpora Flavones(or however it's spelled) the Genestil products....and melatonin, creatine, etc in Elsom's products. Info on Elsom's delivery systems can be seen here: http://www.elsomresearch.com/learning/default.htm

Another major plus IMO is the lack of alcohol in the Elsom products..as well as the low amount in the Genistil one. My scalp has never looked better since being on these topicals..and I've been applying different things for over 4 years now. There is also the possiblity of alcohol hindering ones progress. From Lipoxidil's website: "There are some new studies showing concerns about alcohol as caspase-3 and apoptosis inducer being contraproductive for the use of topical hairloss products. Activation of caspase 3 is thought to be a direct cause of cell apoptosis

Experiments revealed that processing of caspase-3 is a principal event during apoptosis of hair cell types. Conclusion: alcohol simular as TGF-b induces caspase-3 which causes apoptosis of hair cells.Alcohol strongly reduces the positive effect of anti-hairloss ingredients and should be reduced to a minimum or elimitated at all."
