Shaving doesn't make it grow any faster at all. And unlike plucking/waxing etc. it doesn't stimulate dormant hair follicles into the regrowth phase. I find that the good thing about shaving the dark coarse stuff is that I can shave it again when I start to feel it a tiny trifle rough but long before other people can notice it. I shave my moustache and chin every day but the rest of my face has only fine hair and doesn't need shaved for months on end.
