Muscle spasms? Calcium vs. Magnesium-The logic!
I WOULD LIKE TO PUT THIS DISCUSSION FORWARD. TO THE GROUP!

I am confused by many of the postings on this subject.
Here are some facts TO begin with:
1)Muscle cramping can be caused by hypocalcemia, low calcium in blood.
2) Muscle spasms are not symptoms of hypercalcemia,(just look up merk, wikipedia, medline, etc.)
3)Low calcium can be caused by too much magnesium! (and other things of course)
The question is then:
So, why would anyone recommend more magnesium right off the bat for someone suffering from such symptoms?
The physiology of muscles contracting is influx and outflux of ions not only in motor neuron (to signal the muscle,) but also in and out of the actual muscle cells, (fibers)themselve to cause them to shorten.
The symptoms of too low blood calcium is tetany, cramps, spasm.
So, if a person who is suffering from such, why in the world would you want to start taking magnesium if high magnesium may be causing the problem in the first place?
Blood testing should be done before going wild on magnesium.
LOGICAL PROGRESSION
Quinine sulfate is is used to treat restless legs and cramps.
Sometimes referred to as Night leg syndrome, Night cramps, sleepless leg synrome, nocturnal spasms, (no, not that kind of nocturnal spasm Hv,)
The time of day and onset of these symptoms should be an obvious clue as to what causes these issues. Is it a clue?
Do we all just think our legs go crazy just because of what time it is? Is it the moon the sun. What?
The fact that quinine sulfate treats these so well but doesn't cure them is also a clue of what's actually going on.
Imagine this scenario just for illustration using all these clues and facts put forth herein.
Diuretics, poor nutrietion, thyroid, parathyroid, cancer can create imbalances in electrolytes, (not can,..."do")
This is a fact! Basic and Simple.
More facts:
1) Latest in the day is when we are the most fatigued!
2) The legs have the largest muscles in body.
Well, if you are depleted in the largest muscle in the body, if your largest muscle demands for essential nutrients are highest of all muscles,...chronic depletions will affet these muscle first, would they not.
What depletions are we talking about?
Minerals and there ability to bind to or set up influx of oxygen! (Oh, here we go again!)
It's been proven Calcium binds to oxygen and is actually a transport ion for oxygen,...there are tons of studies that demonstrate this relationship.
So, imagine this scenario played out:
You are depleted in minerals due to one of several reasons.
Well, if you are depleted in minerals, you are also depleted oxygen, low grade, chronic tissue hypoxia causes cramping...always leads to cramping.
This is why athletes take potassium, sodium pills to prevent cramping and muscle fatigue.
So, now you are at your most fatigued time in the day, you are also at your most depleted time of day.
Just to maintain and prevent atrophy or muscle cell injury/ your body must produce lactic acid just to support basic, normal biological functions of the muscle at rest! Never mind excercise and high muscle activity.
You are hypoxic at rest in highest demand muscles and producing lactic acid in these largest muscles in your body.
In fact, low grade hypoxia can cause nerve excitability in a local sense, (not in brain.)
Along comes quinine sulphate. SO4- is it's atomic symbol; being a known oxygen donor, (as in dmso)
If SO4 was a donor of oxygen your legs would become happy, there may still be depletion of minerals but the compensation is made, the ultimate nutrient is supplied anyway and your muscles are happy again.
Your muscles are happy as they can breath and take care of just plain old normal metabolism without stress. With out the excitability of tissue hypoxia and lactic acid formation.
DOES IT ALL FIT THOUGH?
Now, we have an explanation on how leg syndromes:
1)Happen at night
2) why they are treated so easily by a natural substance quinine sulfate
3)Why SO4 works well, it works fast, but never is a cure.
4)How something more is needed that quinine sulfate.
HOW TO TEST THIS THEORY
SO, to partially test this theory simply cross reference quinine sulfate with a suspected or known anaerobic disease to see if it meets the oxygen therapy test.
Or just sulfate!
Now having cross referenced SO4 to auto immune, viruses, anaerobic parasites, anaerobic bacterium, we can see it is implicated in favorable responses to all of these diseases.
Now you can feel comfortable knowing the oxygen donation is what sulfate is doing or at least conclude it is possible.
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? POSSIBLE?
if you suffer from cramping,... blood chemistries, electrolyte summaries will be helpful diagnostic tools.
See what your calcium, magnesium, potassium levels are.
If you have metabolite embalances, finding the underlying cause is the next step. In the meantime, don't be afraid of taking a little extra calcium with D in your diets.
