Re: To Stofurz

you certainly have a right as a good neighbor to the U.S to air your opinions, the people of the U.S needs to hear them, pro or con.
How would I handle Saddam? First of all I would trade with Iraq. A full embargo on Iraq does not harm Saddam. He will always have all the palaces and riches he wants. It's the people that it holds back. When we impoverish the Iraqi people, it works in Saddam's favor. How in the world would you expect the masses to overthrow him if they are starving and powerless? The muslim world sees the Iraqi people suffering, and they blame the U.S for it. That's one of the things Bin Laden has in his favor.
I would keep an eye on Saddam, let the inspections work. We don't know what history will bring, but if the guy is kept at bay, he will get old and die one day. No one knows what will happen after that, but the new leader could not be worse and hopefully the Iraqi people will do better.
Saddam has never said he wants to attach the u.s. He could attack all his neighbors, but all these neighbors do not fear him and don't want the u.s to attack. Iran has the most to gain from a weak saddam, and they don't want us there.
I would pull our troops our of Saudi Arabia. Your husband is nieve enough to think that this has nothing to do with oil.
The muslim community hates the u.s because we have our troops in saudi arabia right next to their holy reliegous sites. Saudi arabia has a very poor record of human rights violations. Are we invading them? No, Why? your husband insists it has nothing to do with oil. Well then you tell me why we are in Saudi Arabia defending a leadership that is responsible for human rights violations. You have not heard this because conservative news stations won't report it, but Saudi Arabia has said after the iraq war, they want us out of their country. The people of Saudi are sick of us.
I would also quit funding both sides of the Israeli, Palestine issue. Giving 200m one day to Israel and 50m to the palestine people is doing nothing but funding both sides of terrorism. This is also somthing else that fuels the hatred and wins Bin Laden support. Israel is our friend, but that does not mean we are to fund them. Muslims correctly view this as U.S money holding back muslims.
