Lecithin or phosphatidylcholine may worsen asthma, allergy, inflammation
CZ can be a good place to learn from..but then again, sometimes what may work for one person, doesn't always mean it's something good for someone else.
After reading some posts by a couple of people on CZ that say that taking lecithin regularly will stop liver/gallbladder stones from forming, I gave it a try for a short time, but didn't like that it was one thing that made me burp.. and then recently got some phosphatylcholine to try instead...
But..what Cutler says about it should also be recognized, because in some people it's not such a good thing after all.

"Much allergic reaction, inflammation and asthma is caused by the release of the essential fatty acid arachidonic acid to form proinflammatory signalling molecules. Leukotriene inhibitors directly interfere with the effects of some of these signalling molecules. In addition to prescription leukotriene inhibitors, ginger also interferes with the formation of leukotrienes.
Acetylcholine can stimulate the release of more arachidonic acid. Thus DMAE, lecithin or phosphatidylcholine may worsen asthma, allergy and inflammation in susceptible individuals."

"Many people with multiple chemical sensitivites are unusually sensitive to acetylcholine. Thus if they supplement with DMAE they will require much smaller doses than other people. They may also be quite sensitive to choline, phosphatidlycholine and lecithin. Thiamine may reduce this excessive sensitivity to acetylcholine. Excess acetylcholine sensitivity also affects arachidonic acid release.
