The never ending period..has anyone had this?
I am a 41 year old woman who is in good health and haven't had any children. I do, however, have a very stressful job!! Anyway, here's what is happening to me. I need to know if anyone else has had this and would be grateful for any advice.
My periods have always been normal and on time. About 3 months ago, I went on a trip and as soon as I arrived, my period started 2 weeks early. It lasted 7 days and stopped. As soon as I got back home, boom, there it was again. This bleeding, again, lasted about 7 days. I went to my gyn who did a pap and ultra sound. All results were "normal" and I was told that I was experiencing a hormone imbalance and that things would "balance" themselves out. Two days later, my period started again. My doctor put me on progesterin which I took for 5 days. The bleeding didn't stop. I was referred to another doctor who told me I wasn't in perimenopase (she said I was too young. She said I'm having an episode of acute hormonal imbalance caused by stress and she prescriped estrogin which I was supposed to take until my bleeding stopped. I took it for 10 days and it finally stopped...but just for a few days and then...hello....the period is back. As I write I am experiencing a heavy period with bright red blood as the days progress it appears to be getting heavier. I am not in a lot of pain but I feel like I'm on the first day of my period all of the time with a dull ache. I can't sleep at night--I get really hot. I'm totally depressed/emotional and I just don't know what to do. I've been bleeding now for about 2 1/2 months with just a few days here and there with no blood. It isn't spotting. I called my doctor and asked if I should take more estrogin and the last message I received was not to take any more...my body will again balance itself out. I feel like I'm going crazy and this isn't a lot of fun when it comes to intimacy.
I am grateful for this message board and welcome any feedback on what you think I should do and/or if you've had a similar experience.
