I would add a few drops of Lugols Iodine to the water instead as you mention thyroid problems. As for DMSO. You can take DMSO orally but I would first try rubbing it into the skin in the area that is sore. It will absorb quickly through the skin and travel throughout the body.

Ionic silver is another thing to give to cats when they are ill. Just fill a small dish with it straight.
