Re: Need Help! Looking for ideas regarding overweight 4year old.

"This is not even close to being true!!! There are many things that contribute to weight gain other than calorie intake vs. calorie burning."

Such as what? You can not gain weight without the extra calories (food) to build that weight. You can not get fat unless your input is greater than your output. Other factors may indirectly influence hunger and activity, but input/output are what directly dictate the body's ability to form fat stores. Take any condition that you can think of and input/output will still ultimately dictate if someone becomes overweight. Anyone in a slave camp will get skinny regardless of what "weight condition" a doctor charges hundreds for a diagnosis. It's simple math, made confusing and complicated by those who want to profit off of "conditions". I don't consider water retention to be true "weight gain" and I don't think pharmaceuticals are the answer for a 4 year old. If the kid is sensitive and he is pampered, he'll get even more sensitive by keeping him out of the sun and starved of vitamin D and hormones that make a child stronger, especially in his developing years. Most of those conditions you mention are ironically because of bad diet and lack of exercise/sunlight etc...
