"That one woman's fast is coming out ok with vitamins doesn't for me overpower the 10,000
Shelton patients who didn't use them. Since Olivia doesn't seem to have returned to genuine hunger, perhaps she would have had a lot less hunger along the way (and a generally more comfortable and otherwise optimal fast) without them."
But
Shelton did enemas during a fast (correct me if I am mistaken) for years and years until he discovered his error, is that not true? This is what I am thinking is, if this woman can go this long on vitamins without troubles, other than really bad hunger, perhaps he was wrong on this, as were other experts, much like he was in error regarding enamas? Perhaps it would have been easier as you suggest, but perhaps she would not have been able to go as long? Again, this is not meant as an insult.
"I believe it's more like neither of them were up on the fasting literature..."
Agreed, I don't think meat and Powerade are a good idea, and with the digestive system the way it is after fasting, one could DIE, and from what I have read, some have died by breaking a fast with a steak etc!!!! I still hold to the idea one should not take vitamins while fasting. But I do think this woman's fast has called into doubt the vitamins theory. I am open to thinking about it, but am in doubts, and am wondering if it was a situation of playing it safe for the experts?
