I personally know of two people, one in the IT industry who does not have any credentials whatsoever except experience, who has a salary of approx £75,000 which translates into about $100,000 for his computer/networking expertise and knowledge.
The other is an experienced head-chef who was demoted by the new company that took over his hotel chain by a new "qualified" chef because he was unqualified.

Soon after this new chefs arrival he was ordered to make a banquet fit for a dignitary, including a boars head as the centerpiece of the display, but admitted he was unable to do so.
People and the press came from miles around to admire and take photographs of this wondrous display of food that only the non-qualified chef was able to do.

This new "qualified" head-chef was sacked as a consequence.
